The vast, golden wheat fields are ripe and ready for this year’s harvest. Between 1 and 11 October, most of the Hessequa region received exceptional rain, with some areas even recording 100 mm.
The warmer weather and the hungry grunter have led to an increase in weekend visitors, and the town is already buzzing in preparation for December.
This month we would like to take the opportunity to share a little more information about our municipal area, as it is one of the first questions buyers usually ask.
Witsand or Port Beaufort falls within the local Hessequa (people of trees) municipal area, which in turn falls under the Eden district municipality.
- The Hessequa municipal area covers 5 733 square kilometres between the Langeberg Mountains and the Indian Ocean, stretching from the Breede River at Witsand in the west to the Gourits River in the east.
- The towns within the district are: Witsand, Slangrivier, Heidelberg, Riversdale, Stilbaai, Melkhoutfontein, Albertinia, and Gouritsmond.
- Hessequa is one of the seven best-run municipalities in South Africa with clean audits year-after-year.
Hope we see you soon, stay safe!
